Katherine Larson has over 50 years of experience in painting murals and commissioned works. Her work can be found in museums, restaurants, healthcare facilities and private collections across the U.S. She is most known for her painted murals but also creates fine art paintings. She has been commissioned for over 200 murals ranging from representational art to abstract works. Katherine’s style is vibrant and colorful, utilizing a modern form of indirect painting to obtain the greatest amount of visual depth in her work.
Katherine is also the illustrator of 10 nationally distributed children’s books. Some of her titles from Sleeping Bear Press include: “G is for Grand Canyon” awarded the Grand Canyon Reader’s Award, “M is for Melody” and “A is for Arches- a Utah Alphabet Book”
"I love working with watercolors because of the speed in which they bleed and melt into each other. Oil is a beautiful medium because of the ability to layer one transparent layer over another without losing the original ground. Both mediums keep one from becoming to "precious" with a brush stroke. One runs, the other creates lights, complicated hues and shadows on its own through indirect layering."

What do you want people to do or feel when they encounter your creations?
"I would be sad if anyone walked away from my work without at least an inner smile or a less burdened heart."
