This beautifully formed small sake set is perfect for sharing a special cup of sake and a small bite with a friend. Or whiskey. Or an aperitif. Each set includes 1 carafe, 2 cups, and a small slab plate and is unique with varying markings from the natural materials, the firing process, and the artist’s hands. The iron inclusions combined with the cobalt surface make for a truly special set. The carafe holds approx 8-12oz and the cups each hold 2oz of your favorite beverage. Each carafe and cup is lined with a traditional shino glaze with beautiful cobalt drips and runs.
The carafe and cups are created from porcelaneous stoneware with a pure porcelain & foraged wild iron engobe finished with a reactive cobalt matte glaze. The slab is handthrown with molten swirls of iron and surfaced in the same cobalt matte glaze. Oftentimes golden speckles will appear on the surfaces and the slabs may show tiny markings on the underside from their bed of crushed oyster shells used in the firing process.
Every firing produces unique color variations ranging from algae greens, pale blues, golden speckles, and brilliantly deep cobalt blues. All work is high-fired in gas reduction to ^11 and fully vitrified and food safe. Sizes are approximate.
