Maman Ceramic Collection - Vases & Vessels

Featured In Maman, New York, NY

Starts at $1,500

The ceramic collection for the Maman restaurant and cafe in Tribeca NYC was commissioned by the owner Elisa Marshall based on my suggestion for a collaboration. I had been a fan of the amazing baked goods and felt a kindred spirit and Maman’s sense of craft and quality. One of the challenges was that the high traffic restaurant has a quick turn-around of dishes and cups as they break easily. We decided on a precious handmade series that would serve as a showcase collection only for sale at the Tribeca location. The restaurant has a large open space with 3 wall shelves that gracefully rise up to the high ceiling, plus the 18 community and single tables.
Elisa loves bunnies and they already had been a common theme at Maman so we decided that I create a collection around that idea. Maman offers French cuisine and pastries in an atmosphere that resembles an old farm houses with beautiful weathered fixtures and furnitures very reminiscent of the French countryside. After a research into Delftware, my aim was to modernize a traditional blue Delft look by creating contemporary bunny characters (dressed in street and designer wear) and garden motifs. They were applied to pieces that resemble farmer’s baskets, pitchers, oval tin cans and round plates. The collection is made of stoneware and hand painted in indigo blue, and the white pieces are simply glazed in white. The Maman collection, that later also expanded into t-shirts and kids clothes, was a major success and keeps selling to this day through my website.

Price varies depending on the project scale based on size, style and quantity. Made-to-order. Please contact for a quote.

Specializes in creating sculptural ceramic objects using various hand-building techniques.

I started making ceramics in 2012 after more than 15 years of working in a NY brand, visual and design consultation studio. My hand-built ceramic work focuses on two spectrums - one, the Japanese wabisabi inspired pieces which exudes the quality of transience, and the other, a minimal approach that is an interpretation of nature and study of shapes and forms.
My commissioned work includes a collection for Maman NYC, Chillhouse NYC, 97 Crosby NYC, Paloma Wool Madrid, White is Good Beijing, Virgil Normal LA, Departamento LA, Seldom Seen SF, Voyager SF & LA, Tekuno Tea Shop SF, as well custom pieces for private collectors. I have held a month-long pop-up shop at Voyager SF in 2019 where I showcased ceramics and fashion as well as a pop-up event of ceramic works at Seldom Seen SF in 2018. In addition I have wholesaled for Steven Alan US between 2014-2016 and many of my ceramic works were featured in publications such as W Magazine Culture, Bloomberg Businessweek, Steven Alan The Designer Edit, Paloma Wool, Coastal Living and more. I am also a fashion designer specializing in innovative draping. In 2018 I published the book 'Vase and Flower’ which showcases my vases in combination with ikebana flower artists from around the globe.
