Kelle Contine Interior Design dreamed this student-living facility design, and Met/Gal chose the artwork by Jessica Poundstone, "Color Space 54: Tiny Fire Inside an Emerald," to compliment it. Said Met/Gal curators, the piece "invites the viewer into a creative realm to re-center, reimagine and restore. It is transcendent and elicits ambition and visual ease" for students visiting the space"

Product Description:
Color Space 54 is about imagining ourselves as the deepest most beautiful emeralds with fires our centers made of love and energy and passion that light the whole world up.

This piece is part of my Color Space series, which explores the meaning-making & meditative properties of form and color. The images in the series are meant to invite us to move for a moment to a different space, to take a breath, to re-center, re-imagine and restore; to create new thoughts and new perspectives.

I believe art is part of a self-care practice that changes the way we see, think & feel - and ultimately changes us!

Hello and welcome! I’m Jessica, an artist living and working in Portland, Oregon. I’m so glad you found me!
I believe art is part of a self-care practice that changes the way we see, think & feel - and ultimately changes us! My colorful, modern, meaningful work is informed and inspired by color sensation, minimalism, and experiential “light and space” art movements. I work on each image until I feel everything click into place: that feeling of “rightness” tells me it’s done.

My hope is that as my collectors live with these pieces, they serve as a visual invitation, a portal, a totem: a way of reminding us of what’s possible, getting more deeply attuned to the joy, fun, adventure and wisdom that comes with exploring who we are and who we can become.

ABOUT THE WORK

I create the majority of my work digitally on a touchscreen with my fingers. The techniques I've developed over many years are a hybrid of painting, screenprinting and collage. I then print the images using pigment ink on thick, 100% cotton fine art paper. Each of my pieces is an original work; the completed pieces are completely archival. I hope you enjoy your time here and connect with what you see — reach out with questions anytime!
