Her intention with this piece was to explore the relationship we have with our spirit animals and with our ancestors. Sometimes we would meditate and feel their presence, we might even think we see a glimpse of them with our inner eye. But most of the time we just know that they are there, that they support us, in another dimension, vibrating at a different frequency.
The wolf is a powerful symbol for her ancestors, the Dacians, and there are many beautiful legends about the wolf. The personality traits of the wolf are those of powerful instinct, intuition, and high intelligence.
Elena aims to catch the moments of intense vulnerability along her journey. The representation of the Romanian woman who wears a traditional blouse and a red rose in her hair, of the martisor, of the mountains and ancestors who support her from behind, of the wolf that she looks at fearlessly and that looks at her gently, the colors of the earth are some of the key aspects of this painting.
