This was the Yale Alumni Service Corps’ fourth trip to Yamoransa, Ghana. The new ICTC building that they built was almost finished. John Boak's job was to paint murals in the library and in the home-ec rooms. For the home-ec room. I drew two women symbolizing the production and marketing of kenkey, a Ghanian food made of fermented corn meal. I created all the production drawings in the USA, printed them out full sized. It was summer. Schools was out. And as work got out that painting was going on in the ICTC children and young people showed up to work on project. I had a team, two of whom you can see in these photos. I monitored and joined a team in two rooms, as we traced the drawings onto the walls. I mixed all the paints, and joined my team filling in the drawings. It took us 4.5. We cleaned up on friday, ready for the Dedication ceremonies on Saturday.
