Wood Fired Porcelain Teabowl - Dinnerware
Price from $95 to $125
I fired this teabowl in the front chamber of the noborigama kiln at the North Carolina Pottery Center.
It was placed on three wads, on its side. You can see the halo around these wad marks: The orange flashing is a result of the flame licking the pot in transit out of the chimney. You can see a delicious green drip on the foot of the bowl, too.
The heat of the kiln and the way it was fired (on its side) led to it warping some. I think this adds character to the bowl.
The inside was glazed with a shino, which trapped some excess carbon in the kiln and turned a mottled grey color. This is unusual, and looks quite good filled with green tea!

My teabowls vary from $95-145 depending on the materials and aesthetics of the piece. I do take commissions.
