Wavelength - Public Sculptures
Featured In Ruiz Branch, Austin Public Library, Austin, TX
$ On Inquiry
“Wavelength” was commissioned by the City of Austin, Art in Public Places as part of TEMPO 2019. The monolithic pyramid will be on view at Ruiz Branch Library through November 7th. All TEMPO artworks will be re-installed in Edward Rendon Sr. Park from November 8th to 30th as part of the East Austin Studio Tour. "Wavelength" draws attention to the extraordinary nature of light and color by pairing gold leaf with vibrant hues of poured paint. This pairing of luminous gold and thick acrylic paint emphasizes both the fugitive medium of light and the materially tethered nature of paint. "Wavelength" is currently located in the field behind the library with the intention of sparking interest from afar. The monolithic pyramid sparks curiosity from a distance and encourages exploration.
