Mixed media wall sculpture in a handmade wooden floating frame. Over 100 individually carved pieces of expanded polystyrene are set into a waveform-like pattern on a 48x24 in block of recycled styrofoam. The waveform is covered with a copper metal coating and various patinas and iron particles to form a beautiful rust patina. The base is a sea of textures finished with brightly-colored acrylic paints that attract attention from a distance and display substantive nuance when viewed close up. Signature piece for a residence or business.

Mixed Media Patina Paintings - Acrylics & Texture, Copper and Rust

My canvas-based works are highly textural with vibrant colors, using abstract yet decorative designs, able to consistently pique the curiosity of those willing to take the time to look.

I am a self-taught artist with a history in ceramics, metal sculpture and engineering. Clay blessed me with a love and appreciation of texture. Working with metal introduced me to patinas and rust. Engineering taught me problem solving and process and the value of testing and failure.

My current journey into mixed media is driven by a desire to create art with many layers, where the sum of the parts has a story and sparks conversations. My unconventional techniques and use of acrylic paints, copper, rust, metal patinas and texturing materials creates distinctive and thought-provoking pieces.

Art is an extraordinary multiverse. Each work is an invitation for viewers to explore, to use their own curiosity and discover something unique. And if we’re lucky, we can share those visions and make a connection.
