This piece is part of my Watchband Tapestry series. Each little tapestry is created from small objects woven together with 28 gauge jewelry wire and strung from a vintage watchband. This one is composed from vintage buttons, pearls, beads, sand dollars, and of course a watchband. It is displayed in a custom pearl-painted wood floating frame under museum grade acrylic.

"As a collage and mixed media artist, I create detailed and meticulously constructed artwork from photographs, books, fabric and found objects. I collect things that intrigue me and often keep them for several years before deciding how to best incorporate them into my art.

I would like for viewers to be able to stand at a distance from my artwork and see a beautiful and fascinating composition, which will in turn draw them in for a closer look to reveal the surprise of the composite parts. I use the source materials to convey my cultural heritage and deep sense of history. My artwork is wholly contemporary and global, while at the same time honoring the ethnic and traditional, paying homage to those who came before."
