Vancouver Cityscape, made of old reclaimed wood

This is the exact one that is available to ship out right away.

I was inspired by Downtown Vancouver and its surrounding area because of the density of buildings and surrounding waterways.

I started the piece by laying out an exact replica of the street grid. I followed this with building the tallest buildings that are located in the north central part of the peninsula, tapering off in height towards the south. The remainder consists of commercial, industrial and suburban areas. Keep in mind that the buildings are not an exact replica; it is my interpretation of art. There are a lot of notable features that are exact to area.

I built all of the buildings with a variety of hardwoods such as Black Walnut, White Oak, Red Oak, Sycamore, Sassafras, Maple, White Ash and Hickory. I used moss and lichen encrusted wood for all of the gardens and landscapes. For the waterways I used a wood that has been aged outside which gives it a blue-grey finish.

This is the most time consuming piece I have built to date, a lot of planning and work went into building this piece. I have logged over 400 hours into this piece. There are no words to describe how interesting it looks in person. As the light in the house changes so does the art piece, it is an art piece that you will not be able to take your eyes off of; you will never get bored of it. I am sure that this art piece will be the biggest point of conversation in your home.

This artwork has a completely natural patina, which means that it has not been painted or stained. What you see is the natural color of the wood that has been aged for over 80 to 120 years.

The entire piece has been sealed with a low VOC water based sealer to preserve and protect it.

The total dimension of this piece is 44.5” long by 36.5” high by 4” deep.

Each art piece is hand signed and dated in the back and also has a custom made laser engraved wood name tag mounted on the side of the piece.

I also include the mounting kit for secure wall hanging.

This art piece will be shipped in a wood crate to protect it and it will also be fully insured from damage

All my art pieces are made using very old wood from barns and homes taken down in my area.

Hi My name is Craig Forget and I am a reclaimed wood artist

I feel that I am part of the large art movement that has been growing in the Detroit and Windsor area, it is great to be part of this movement. It is also great to be able to express myself through art. I am in it for the long haul, I believe in producing the most unique art pieces with the most unique wood that I can find. I always feel that it is the old, reclaimed wood that makes my pieces unique.

I have been influenced by woodworking from a very young age and recently I have found my true passion for building unique artwork and furniture out of reclaimed barn wood. What I love about the materials that I work with is that you never know what types of wood you are going to find in the local barns that range from 80 to 200 years of age. You could say I am like a kid in a candy store.

What makes my artwork and furniture so unique is that I am always on the hunt for unique types of wood that will create an impressive piece. I especially enjoy working with wood that is bursting with character. There are no faux finishes in the world that can duplicate the colors and textures that Mother Nature creates, 95% to 100% of the colors you see on my art pieces have not been stained what you see is the natural color of the wood. When wood is aged for 80 to 100 years, it turns naturally dark in color.
The darker brown natural woods were those aged within a barn, while grey boards have been weathered outside.
When you are buying one of my pieces, you are also buying a piece of Pioneer history, when power tools were almost non-existent.
