This piece was inspired by Hilma Af Klint, a Swedish artist and mystic. In particular, this piece is my cut paper interpretation of her “No. 2 Childhood”. Featuring textured papers in bright, poppy colours, I wanted this piece to feel vibrant and energetic in a dizzyingly playful way.
“ The pictures were painted directly through me, without preliminary drawings and with great power. I had no idea what the pictures would depict and still I worked quickly and surely without changing a single brush-stroke.”
-Hilma Af Klint
Fact about Hilma: She truly was a mystic— finding spirituality after the death of her sister. She was in a circle of sisterhood that practiced séances. Additionally, in her work, she has said that felt she was being directed by a force— one that would literally guide her hand.

ABOUT THE COLLECTION
This collection was born from a desire to share stories. Featuring female artists throughout history, it is an invitation to collectively remember the incredible artists who came before us.
