Corten Steel Sculpture. The Goddess Freya is part of the "I Can Soar" Series. Freya is the Norse Goddess of Love and Fertility. It reflects the feeling of joy and unlimited potential that the artist feels when listening to many of the renditions of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah". This contemporary artwork starts with a third-scale model of the figure hand-sculpted in wax. It is then digitized and manipulated digitally. The lines of the abstraction of the figure represent the lines of motion and the musculature of the body. The Corten steel will weather to a burnt-orange patina. After developing the patina, it will stop rusting and will last for decades outside untreated.

This piece weighs approximately 300 pounds. It will require bolting to a concrete or timber plinth. It is stable but the extended leg provides sufficient leverage for someone to tilt it off-balance.

I Sculpt Movement.

I sculpt motion. I uses graphic lines of wood and steel to explore the motion and energy of dancers. Often working larger-than-life, my works will animate your home or garden. My passion is motion -- not the material. And thus, I explore different materials, at different scales, and with different levels of abstraction to explore how to enhance a sense of rhythm and motion in a static sculpture.
I was born in Casper, Wyoming in 1952 but I’ve mostly lived in cities on both the east and west coasts. Equally adept in both right- and left-brain activities, I’ve followed passions in both spheres. As a younger adult and mid-level professional, I pursued more analytic careers such as software development and corporate management and relegated my artistic side to avocations. As I became more confident in myself, I found ways to integrate both the analytic and artistic into my later careers – first as the owner of a home design/remodeling firm and now as a full-time sculptor. My sculptural work is heavy in digital design and fabrication.
