Thailand Golden Teak is one of the world’s renowned hardwoods, and tables of this size are rare today. We do not cut trees but instead recycle legacy slabs of tropical hardwoods. Like most of our stock, the wood for this table was first cut decades ago before we reclaimed it. The 3-inch-thick table top is clear and with no cracks or knots.
This wood was carefully dried in our own commercial dry kilns, making it suitable for drier climates in North America or Europe. The table top is made from three thick boards that are edge-jointed into one piece. It is planed flat and sanded smooth before we finish it by hand with an oil especially made for teak wood. We ensure the table remains flat by installing metal c-channel under the table. The legs are built in our own workshop from a heavy tropical hardwood.
We use only teak from Thailand, rated as the highest quality teak. The color is golden after the wood is exposed to sunlight. It has a delicate grain pattern yet the wood is rated as very stable. Teak timber has a high oil content that works as a natural water repellent and so the wood resists rotting, fungi, insects and chemicals. This teak table can be used outdoors.
While our legacy teak slabs become tables, we also use teak to create everything from wall cladding to entrance doors and even marine decking. Contact us is you are interested in anything made of teak.
