Sushi is healthy food, easy to prepare, often affordable, and tasty. As such it achieved fast-food status. That is great but, I wanted to create a sushi set that will reflect the festive aura I feel when having this delicate and elegant dish.
The set is made of white porcelain from Limoges, France. Plates are made from slabs with hand tools and bare hands only. The bottom of each plate is flat and unglazed. The rim of the serving plate had an irregular shape as it is formed with fingers only.
Oval plates and bowls are made with regular rims. The plates are almost flat. The saucer bowls are low compared to their width.
Plates are hand-painted with the motives of a cherry tree. Petals are painted with a thin brush and then anthers are painted in an even more minoutious process.
Linen napkins by Vilenica Studio are screen printed from a hand-drawn screen and dyed to this fine pink hue with the water dissolution of avocado seeds.
The box is hand-made by a local bookbinder. It is a thick cardboard box coated with coral-pink canvas-looking paper.
We offer the set in sizes for two and for four people but at your wish, the number can vary.

4 oval plates (21x8 cm; 8 1/4x3.15in)
4 saucer plates (6cm; 2.36in)
