An original 12 x 12" acrylic painting on birch wood panel framed in a 13.5 x 13.5 x 1.25 inch deep solid wood floater frame the same size and style as I have framed Sunrise Bay Laurel and Afternoon Bay Laurel (13.5 x 13.5 inches).
The different darker and lighter layers of this painting are thin and sheer, each showing through the next, which gives a softness and glow. You can see the dark pencil lines outlining the leaves. That is deliberate. Without those lines demarcating the silhouette, the leaves would dissolve into the very sheer sky and the design would have less impact.
NOTE: the technique used in this mini 12 x 12" tree painting is more layered, mysterious and murky than the other two tree paintings this size (mentioned above) which have solid opaque paint that doesn't show the underlayers like this one does.
