These Stoneware mugs, creamer and ramekin by Len Carella perfectly fit Octavia's penchant for mixing ceramics from various local artisans. Chef Melissa Perello spotted one of Carella's mugs in March, the kitchen retail store on Sacramento Street, and commissioned him to make everything from cappuccino and espresso cups to butter dishes to pots for pouring soup.

Len Carella started out as designer of footwear and leather goods but midway through his career, in 1998, he decided to change course and study ceramics at Parsons School of Design in New York.

His career move paid off, and today he has his own design company specializing in one-of-a-kind, small-scale production of tableware, decorative accessories and sculpture. He currently works full-time from his San Francisco studio in high-fire stoneware and porcelain.
