'Stillness' is from the series 'Peace in Rest' : handwoven from hemp yarn, presented on birch wood and beautifully framed in oak veneer.
To rest means to pare back to the essentials. To feel like the deciduous branches in winter, bare yet strong. Whether a quiet pause in the day or a longer sabbatical, rest is vital for our physical and mental wellbeing. It's not passive but active.
Looking up at the winter branch-scapes of the woodlands reminds me of the natural cycles of rest, that too often we forget (or are forced to ignore) in modern life.
Whether choosing to be mindful in our day, practising meditation or decluttering to reduce the overwhelm of 'things' in our home.
It's honouring ourselves so that we have the energy to focus on what matters most to us, our loved ones and our precious world.
