PIGMENT WASH & METALLIC PAINTING
If sweet dreams left tangible impressions, they would shimmer with a fleeting yet wondrous feeling, blurred by misty traces of what could be. My paintings contain an element of this familiarity in their abstractions. I paint with pigmented and metallic washes on acrylic panels and paper, creating a delicate topography infused with ambient and reflected light. The surfaces are ever-changing as daylight dances across these paintings, giving them the illusion of dimensionality.
Movement of light—a sunrise, a shooting star, the dappled surface of the ocean on a summer’s day, and the sense of contented bliss I feel when I am witnessing this natural splendor inspires me. In my work, I explore the magnificence of light, profundity, and wonder. My paintings’ luminosity evokes a sense of depth through the emanation of light seemingly from within the translucent panels and through the metallic alluvium catching the surface light.
I paint on acid-free, heavy-weight paper and seal these works with an archival protectant. These two works, Source #19 & 20, are on 11 x 14-inch paper that my collector opted to frame herself.
