Somewhere between sex, death and keeping the kitchen clean" is a line from a Rufus Wainwright song " Peaceful afternoon"
The Artist felt the title was totally appropriate for the painting which was created in July 2021, fused with worry about the future, ageing, climate change, world conflict, the continuation of the Pandemic in contrast with the everyday mundane chores we have to deal with. The major and the minor chords in our lives...
The Painting is from the series "The intelligence of feeling".
This series, whilst drawing on scape, is primarily defined by emotion and feeling. Parr continues to explore the balance of spontaneity and controlled intention during the painting process, whilst remembering and considering absence, time, distance, vulnerability, difficulty, loss and the notion of sometimes feeling lost..... the human condition.
The diptych paintings are bolted together but can be separated to hang slightly further apart if required. Signed on the left canvas side and ready to hang. ( Right hand canvas signed on verso )
An original contemporary abstract landscape diptych painting . oil, charcoal and acrylic on canvas 240 x 120 x 4.4 cm.
