Name: SIGNED Semi-Antique Rug | Lovely Tangerine & Strawberry Hues with Iconic and Timeless Classical Design

Size: 9.7 x 13

Age: C. 1940-50s

Pile: Low/Medium with fantastic genuine age-related patina

About: Timeless and Iconic Medallion design inspired by either the domes of the buildings back in the day or Earth herself. This all-encompassing design floods the carpet with beauty, but not to be outdone by all the smaller and delicate vines and stars with flora sprouting throughout. A very nice whimsical dance around the momentous center medallion, with numerous borders and guard borders that decorate even the frame so nicely. The rich strawberry meets cherry reds are a wonderful main color, and all brightened up with the tangerine and anchored down with charcoal and nearly volcanic black. The 'moat' so it's called, has this fantastic deep blue-purple hue, and the corner spandrels are decorated with nice Persian vase motifs with lots of nice antique beige and creamy linen hues. All of this, and still there is this rare and timeless EMERALD GREEN just finding its way to grow throughout and taking this piece from gorgeous and iconic, to next-dimensional beauty...BUT WAIT, there's more. If all of this wasn't enough, the cartouche that sits at the top of the border near the field reads the name of the weaver, standing tall and letting the world know that "this was made by me, and now a gift to the world, I hope you enjoy..." It is not common at all to see signatures by the weaver, but they are truly a story-filled moment in time that carves out a bit more of the intention of the rug for the use of the world - a true beauty. You will love this beast for many moons to come as the wool is incredible and the body and weave are very compact. Lucky space wherever this lands.

This rug is one-of-a-kind, the only one in the world, no others are available.

Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

Any questions about this rug? Don't hesitate to reach out!

We always recommend a high-quality custom-cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.

A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug-weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
