About: This rustic dream is damn there a masterpiece. Rarely do you find these high-end rugs from the Northwest mountainous region contain a similar border and field color. This adds to the lofty and airiness of the rug for being so powerful and bold in design. Striking medallion design with huge corners spandrels filled with an absolutely beautiful midnight blue with abrash of teals and blue-greens. Plenty of antique beige and chocolate/mocha highlights to add some earthy and neutral tones. Really great soft sky blues to add a lightness to it, and wonderful salmon/rose tones that also soften this piece up. The main color in this rug is beautiful variations of rust and clay notes, with even some warm blush. Masterful workmanship with great wool used to weave this. Perhaps the most noteworthy and hard to ignore element of this rug is the artistic drawing (design) and geometric motifs. The vine and branch-like elements really add nice movement to this piece. What you want in pieces like this is space and the use of negative space to help insinuate all the other beautiful geometric design. Lastly, this rug is filled with lovely and natural abrash which is the irregularity and variation of colors in dyes. All in all, this rug is sensational. It has some super minor touchups and ancient and remarkably well done restoration that must have literally been put back on a loom and been re-woven by an expert. This is of course to be expected with antique rugs, and the thing that sets rugs a part are how well they are done - these are done incredibly. I've pointed some out in the photos. I could talk about this rug for many moons, but I'll just leave it at this for now!
This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available. Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.
We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.
