Part of a family of sculpted stools. My inspiration is a guitar 'pick' and hence the relative-sided seating positions. Unique are the hand-sculpted seat and legs with a novel joinery designed/popularized by Sam Maloof and utilized for its large glue surface and explicit strength. Shown are versions in either figured Black Walnut and American Cherry and done in a natural SATIN finish; these are a stock item and have/am experimenting with scaling similar design 'larger' for either counter or bar height and with a different seat contour which could well have a back, footrest, etc... Glad to produce these in other wood species, heights, and even shapes as might be desired

Wooden Imagination is a design-build workshop producing all styles of custom and selective off-the-shelf pieces as well as artistic and sculptural designs and various open/closed turned vessels

Mike Fister has been designing building furniture all of his life. After a long career in high tech, I concentrate mostly on furniture commissions, custom cabinetry, and explore a myriad of turned vessels and art objects. Operating from a dedicated commercial workshop, I prefer to design from concepts and use precious materials that can be hand finished (as opposed to painted material) and selected to allow the natural grain of the wood to incorporate into the objects. The collage above represents a very small cross-section ranging from musical instruments, natural slabs, turnings, and art nouveau. My furniture interests range from traditional to contemporary and incorporate mixed materials like glass and integrated lighting at all types of scale.
