Healing heART Story
This diptych began as a vertical pair of 5' canvases. Along the top edge, cut across a band of woodlands, with the entire lower portion of the pair translucent reds. At the beginning of the video, you can see them turned sideways ~ the woodlands joining at the center.
In my dreams, woodlands represent would-lands, that which I imagine I might one day accomplish. These are my prayers. Is the impossible possible? I think not, and still I pray as I paint out the stabbing wound of 35 years ago. You witness this transformation ~ from bleeding red to flowing blue.
As i paint I stand in front of my canvas as if facing a mirror. Arms outstretched in front of this 10' wide diptych, you can imagine the flutter of each butterfly at hour hands. As you DO, the channel of the river opens through your center core.
The temptation to re-do this video without the instability of the action and music feels relentless. However I realize now I must accept it ~ and myself ~ as I am. There are imperfections being human ~ and stillness as I accept the butterflies!'
