WHAT IS THIS? A high quality canvas is the beginning of a totally unique artwork ... every one is different. Traditional metal patinas are applied over a copper metal coating base for effects similar to a bronze sculpture. Batik-like designs are hidden under the colors and enhanced with acrylic glazes. Sometimes various textures are made from acrylic pastes, cement, sand, gravel, etc used. Acrylic paints are applied with care or with certifiably crazy recklessness. Other materials may be glued on top: cardboard, EPS, wire, whatever is in my studio and looks interesting. Separate sections are sometimes used to create separate design spaces. There is a design idea to start and it usually goes out the window by the time I'm done. It's wicked fun!
Artwork is sealed with polyurethane for protection and enhancement.
Sides are fully finished as a part of the artwork and ready to hang as is, stretched on gallery wrapped canvas. Frame is optional but not necessary. Can be hung easily any direction you want!
