Abstract Paintings
I'm a graphic designer-turned-painter. I graduated from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, with a degree in illustration and spent nearly 20 years designing logos, marketing collateral, rock posters, and websites for agencies and clients like Nike and Death Cab for Cutie. I was a cofounder of The New York Times recommended design store / art gallery called OFFICE, in Portland OR.
I spend my days with my wife and two cats, painting, drawing, and photographing – fading memories of spaces, places and things, inside/outside, man-made and natural, random everyday occurrences, numbers on the side of a rusty truck, peeling paint on a crumbling building or torn layers of old murals on a billboard (beauty and inspiration in the rubble). I typically work in mixed media, acrylic, graphite, pastels and ephemera. Numbers and letters are omnipresent in my work, as they are in everyday life.
