"RARA AVIS", Original Oil on Canvas - Paintings

Price $6,750

This painting was inspired by the Ballet of the same name, which is part of the National Ballet of Cuba repertoire. It is actual how my favorite solo the fourth and last of the ballet, ends. The ballerina portraits a very rare but unique bird and is carried by a large group of male dancers that one never sees. The spotlight is totally on her while the male dancers all dressed in black are passing her around. So she just flies through the whole choreography until the very end when she exits the stage carried out in the position that you see on the painting, engraved in my mind forever.

This original painting measures 30" x 20" (unframed) and approximately 51.25" x 45.25" framed. This work's price ($6750) includes framing.

In the US he danced with Ballet Concerto, Dance Miami, Boston Ballet II and New England Dinosaur Dance Company. While dancing he was also given the opportunity to design sets and costumes for the companies he danced with. Due to a knee injury, in 1986 Noel retired from dancing and pursued a career as an Artist. Some of his commission for private and corporate collections include; murals for the Ritz Plaza Hotel in Miami Beach, Grove Isle Hotel in Coconut Grove, for which he also created the fountain at its entrance. He also created the murals for San Diego's Paradise Point Hotel. Argentinian author Alicia Borinsky selected two of Noel’s paintings for her book jackets. In 1989 he was commissioned to create a portrait of the late Eartha Kitt, who became a collector and mentor. His work has also appeared in major motion pictures, and he served on the Fine Arts Board of the City of Miami Beach from 1994 to 1997.

In his theatrical works, Noel collaborated in DIFFA's 1993 production of "Acts of Hope” as Artistic Director and Producer and also created the commemorative poster of the event.
