Experiments in Paper Quilling

LONG STORY SHORT I am a paper quilling artist, interior designer, educator, military spouse, Mom of 2 (soon to be 3!), the former collegiate runner turned recreational jogger, and Chicago(land) native living in Fayetteville, NC.

SHORT STORY LONG A maker at an early age, I crafted my way through my early childhood and quilled for the first time back in the third grade, a vase of flowers!

It would be another 20 years before I tried my hand at quilling again. During my quilling "hiatus" I pursued other creative avenues. I got a bug for interior design in elementary school and spent hours transforming an entire room of my parent's home into Barbie’s dream house. By my teens, architecture was on my radar, as I reimagined the homes of friends and family drawing up elaborate floor plans. This passion led me to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a minor in Art History from UW-Milwaukee and then a Master of Arts in Interior Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. I followed that up with a career in commercial interior design before my husband’s military career took us from our home base in Chicago(land) to Fayetteville, North Carolina where we currently reside. I have spent the past few years home with two young children and working online both teaching interior design and working on small residential projects. Both gigs while creative and enjoyable left my hands with a creative itch that hours spent at a keyboard and mouse just can't scratch. So in July of 2016, with a desire to put my hands to work and unable to sew, knit, embroider, weave, crochet, knot, throw a pot, or paint, I rediscovered quilling and I haven't looked back since!
