About: SUPER mysterious antique rug woven in the villages of the epicenter of rug weaving. Such a bold piece, from the imbalanced sizes of the motifs to the choice of color throughout the rug. This rug captivates you and sends you down a very deep and dark tunnel of forbidden goodness. The moody energy this rug exudes is felt from a glance, and when examined a little closer, it starts to reveal it's genuine and infinite artistic soul. A gem of a rug with sensational rose, saffron, blues, deep blue-black, indigo, antique beige, and handsome red highlighting the geometric motifs and the date in the rug. This rug is dated "1324" which is based on the Islamic calendar and essentially translates into it being 75 years old, woven right around 1945. Let's be clear, neither you or I will ever come across another rug as unusual and majestic as this. There is something about this rug that overrides our like towards balance in art - the artistic decision to have these bold motifs overpower the piece and anchor it with the tangerine/saffron corner spandrels - only to then frame it with a classical and clean linear and geometric border pierces right to the gut and draws you in for more. And did you notice the 4 horse heads woven at the ends of the duel sprawling medallions that flank the center medallion? Top-notch piece of artistic beauty.
This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available. Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.
We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.
