This work is an original oil painting on linen canvas. It is a color field exploration created in a style insisting on authentically lived experience as subject matter influenced by contemporary American painters such as Edward Hopper and Fairfield Porter. This painting was created during the pandemic as I relocated to my hometown of Greenville, SC from New York City. I travelled around the region and found an inspired shelter by the river in the "port city" of Wilmington, NC. The spaciousness of the open streets and the empty cafes reflected by the light near the water, captivated my imagination as I explored this place where I found myself in the unexpected turn of circumstances during these times.

I explore color in my work to illuminate the terrain of the subconscious, cinematographic “snapshots”. Inspired by music and dance, my marks resonate like patterns of song, poems from my experience, travels, dreams, and buoyant desires.
