Material: bone china porcelain | diameter 20 cm, height 27 cm | fabric cord. Includes a custom porcelain canopy.
The Porcelain Pendant comes in two versions: one with a completely closed (but translucent) bottom and in this case here, one with a recessed hole in the bottom. The latter one gives more downwards directed light but still prevents glaring.
This pendant with a medium size can be hung solo or it can also be combined to be part of bundle with my other sized Porcelain Pendants. A special, custom canopy can be provided for this.
The clear forms of the lamp have been modeled in clay by hand, thus receiving its characteristic somewhat irregular surface and form. The closed form (the underside is closed or has a recessed hole in it) initially seems solid, monumental. Then follows the unexpected transparency, where the material comes to life by the light.
The lamps are manually produced in the studio. In the process each casting gets its own ‘drawing’ that consists of drips, drops, airbubbles, pinholes or other irregularities, which is only revealed by light. In addition the finishing and the firing process affect the final form. Each lamp is therefore unique.
