About: I almost kept this runner for myself. You simply don't see very many old Southwest Mountainous village rugs as runners! Unbelievably fine weaving for a nomadic piece, with all-natural wool foundation and wool pile speaking to its tribal heartbeat. 7 small diamond-shaped medallions make up the majority of the field, all slightly different sized or shaped, and all with it's own unique birthmark if you look closely. You will see an ocean of colors throughout this rug, with a charcoal black being the field color that acts as a perfect canvas to let the undyed beige, aubergine, madder-root, saffron-sunflower yellow, french blue, unique mint green, ice-blue synchronize together in SUCH a harmonious way. Think about how many colors I just named off (and that's not all of them), but how could an artist take all of these colors and weave something without being too harsh on the eyes, without looking too busy or messy, and without being so uncoordinated?? Yet, we look at a piece like this and here is your answer. They are true masters. With the number of elements and nomadic weavings of birds, peacocks, stars, shrubs, trees, roots, and more - you can STILL navigate this piece with ease. It isn't hard or threatening to the eyes whatsoever, on the contrary, it is soothing and even calming to look at. This is what we mean when we say, artists. This would be difficult to DRAW, let alone weave - think about that! Ok, moving on; a perfect border to contrast the geometric field with serrated mountain borders and zig-zag motifs that add a really nice dimension of movement to it. This piece, like most pieces from this village and pieces that have wool pile and wool foundation, has a nice floppy handle. Make sure to order a custom cut pad with it to give it some nice body, unless of course if you're a special type of human being and have a dining room table large enough (both length and width) to use this as a table runner (yes, I had a client do that before in New York - it was legendary!) Anyway, if you're looking for a true nomadic village art runner with earthy, moody, and sophisticated appeal - this is your piece!!

This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available. Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.
