A Memphis design-inspired chair designed for Cafe Mars, an unusual Italian restaurant in Brooklyn, NYC. The seat features a slight v shape, while the back has a gentle slope. The seat design is one of my favorite features of this chair as it greatly increased the comfort of the seat and is a design move I plan to incorporate in future chairs. The Phobos incorporates a U-shaped leg, mirroring the back in a fun and playful way. The chair is made of solid beech and painted with a custom neon pink paint that was hand-mixed for the restaurant and ties together the colorful and inviting atmosphere throughout the space. While this design is exclusive to Cafe Mars, our Deimos chair is similar and available to the general public and are available for other commercial or residential commissions.

Custom chair commissions for commercial projects have a base fee and a minimum chair order requirement. Chair cost are based on design and material selection.

sustainable contemporary furniture

studio apotroes is an experiment and exploration into what it means to be a furniture company dedicated to sustainability in the 21st century. We marry different design and production methods to craft heirloom quality furniture for customers. All pieces are made using biodegradable or recyclable materials like locally harvested wood, glass, metal, and natural fibers. We work with local producers to source materials for studio apotroes objects. You will never see plastics at studio apotroes, but you may see experimental materials using unconventional raw or recycled materials (think invasive or fallen wood, recycled glass, banana fabrics, or oyster concrete). We are a small design studio that wants customers to love and cherish each piece they bring into their home so production times are longer than convention.
