Born in Hingham, MA in 1971 and raised on the scenic South Shore of Boston, Seth B Minkin's artistic journey began at an early age. From doodling on placemats at restaurants to sketching on a boat headed to Nantucket, Minkin always had a pencil in his pocket and a piece of paper in hand, ready to bring his creations to life. Being an artist wasn't just a choice for Minkin; it was a calling that shaped his entire life.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Skidmore College in 1993, Minkin pursued his passion further at the Museum School at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. There, he had the privilege of studying under Carroll Dunham, one of his greatest influences and mentors. Dunham recognized Minkin's bold and whimsical style, encouraging him to embark on a career in the arts. For his final thesis project, Minkin produced a captivating series of extra-large abstract maps that continue to inspire his work to this day.

Seeking new experiences beyond his New England roots, Minkin spent a decade exploring Miami, New York, San Francisco, Chicago, and various international destinations before returning to Boston in 2006. His travels, combined with his formative years in a charming coastal town, where beach days and observing lobster boats were the norm, have profoundly influenced his artistic expression. Many of Minkin's recurring themes reflect his deep connection to water, capturing the beauty, serenity, and sentimental impressions of his surroundings and objects.

Since settling back in Boston, Minkin has collaborated closely with founders in the technology and innovation sphere, earning the trust and patronage of high-profile tech and business leaders. In a unique twist for a fine artist, Minkin spent 10 years as the "Artist In Residence" for BzzAgent, a word-of-mouth marketing firm acquired by DunnHumby in 2011. In this role, he not only created his own artwork for sale but also contributed significantly to the firm's successful projects and events, infusing them with his fine art edge.

Minkin's artistic versatility extends beyond the traditional art world. In 2008, he was chosen by the Pentagon to be the creative voice for "Military One Source," a Department of Defense program for veterans. Over the course of 12 months, he produced a series of 20 mesmerizing oil on canvas originals used in various print, internet, and television advertising campaigns between 2008 and 2010.

Collaborating with prominent consumer goods makers has further showcased Minkin's artistic prowess. He partnered with Montana Watch Company to create a line of stunning one-of-a-kind watches, featuring designs inspired by his oil on canvas originals and crafted from the finest metals and gemstones. In 2016, Minkin joined forces with Castaway Clothing Nantucket, lending his creative touch to a unique and fun swimwear line based on his ongoing "Sardines" series. The collection was an instant hit, continuing into subsequent seasons.

In December of 2016, Minkin fulfilled his vision by opening the Seth B Minkin Studio + Showroom in South Boston. This space was designed to provide the perfect environment for showcasing his original oil on canvas works, many of which are large format and thrive in abundant natural light. The studio is open daily by appointment, allowing art enthusiasts and seekers of inspiration to immerse themselves in Minkin's delightful and whimsical pieces.

In addition to recent originals, the studio features Seth's latest ventures in product development. Explore his "fresh prints" collection, consisting of limited editions of 75, which beautifully capture the essence of his art.
