"Niobrara" River and the Missouri River west of Gavins Point Dam near the South Dakota, Nebraska, border. This land marks the location of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe challenge to the Keystone oil pipeline beginning in 2017.

For the last fourteen years my studio work has been focused on our world waters as news stories of specific water places and issues drive me to respond…
I push pull and wash color and texture against true land/water shapes so that virtually every curving edge represents an actual place where water meets land on the skin of our only earth, with stories to tell.

DROPS is my recent 7-year archive-based conceptual art project following the contours of news and of waters on our one fragile planet:

Each photographic print in The Drops Collection depicts an object… a unique dimensional “imaginary real” water DROP, created over time with acrylic medium, film, pencil and ink, then placed into a protective 4-inch clear glass Petri dish (with lid). Later, photographer T. Maxwell Wagner removed the glass lid for the photography of each DROP. In some of the prints you might detect a hint of the number engraved into the side of the bottom dish. I consistently enjoy how the bottom Petri dish holding each DROP acts as a frame for the artwork when photographed, while the rim of the dish often reflects color intensities accentuated by the photographer’s light source…just as real water reflects light!

I’m so happy to be partnering with Dolphin Archival Printing in Kansas City for your print orders. Your selections will be printed on Canson Infinity Platine Fibre Rag which offers an exquisite satin surface. Your print will arrive unmounted. There will be an extra 1- inch white border beyond the printed image to facilitate your matting and framing options.

"Playing at the edges of our world waters."

I was born on the US East Coast and when I was very young my mother drew a flight path map of my father's business trip to Australia, by way of cities and islands. This birds-eye view of our world surely influenced my fascination with the meandering lines where water meets land across the globe. For the last fourteen years my work has been focused on our fragile world waters as news stories of specific water places and issues drive me to respond...The steep challenges and consequences are real. The balancing of poetry and politics feeds and challenges me and my work. I now live near the confluence of rivers at Kansas City, Missouri. In 2010 I left the corporate world in order to establish an art studio near the rivers and to pursue this art life which has led me to exhibit works from Brooklyn to Hawaii. My water-focused works across a wide variety of media can be found in museum, corporate and university collections, as well as private collections across the United States.
