Namaka's Tears, #2 of The Tears of Divine Feminine Series / Set of 3 Tears
Albezia wood cut shaped and carved, egg tempra paint, irridescent waxes, epoxy resins. Comes ready to hang.
Namaka, sister of Pele, keeper of the oceans is the send in the Tears Series.
My "Tears" series comes from me processing my own struggles as a modern woman, the dissociation from my feminine nature so that I can run a business, the pressures of my own ideas of where I "thought I would be in life by now", the pain of heartbreak, challenges with mental and physical health, all lead me to wonder how would one of the divine feminine goddesses have felt in the challenges of their lives? What would their challenges have been? Each of these archetypes of the divine feminine - the Moon, Volcano, Ocean, Stars, Love, Strength fill me with curiosity. What would their tears look like when they cry? If I could capture the tears she cries and sculpt them, is this what I would see? It helps me find the humanity in their divinity, and the divine in my own humanity.
