This piece is solid walnut inlaid with nails of various diameters. It can be used as a long coffee table or a bench. The concentric oval pattern decorates both the top and the edges of the table top. The top is a sturdy 1 3/4" thick. The dimensions are 18" x 62" x 16"H. All work is done by hand (no robot drilling nail holes) by the maker Peter Sandback. Custom sizes are available and welcomed. Always happy to work a design out with a client.

Handmade tables inlaid with hundreds, even thousands of nails of various diameters

I have been making furniture in my rural New Hampshire shop one at a time, by hand for 25 years.
My more recent work involves inlaying regular;ar old construction nails in my table surfaces. The nails are cut flush with the table surface and polished. The resulting effect is a pattern of shiny dots of various diameters. My patterns come from many sources. A favorite is very old hand cut Japanese stencils used for kimono fabric, called katagami.
