Mystical Tree l Acrylic l 60 x 48 l Contemporary Abstract l Blues and greens with warm tones are expressed in this abstract
“It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men’s hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit”. – Robert Louis Stevenson
A few years ago, I lived in this neighborhood where I would take long walks just to be out with nature. On one of these walks, I discovered this large, beautiful cypress tree. It was surrounded by other trees and tucked in an alcove where I could just sit and listen to the sounds of nature. Oh, and what sounds I heard – owls, hawks, cardinals, woodpeckers and other wonderful creatures.
The cypress tree seemed to have a presence of its own. It towered over the other trees with its large trunk expanding out and its limbs reaching high into the sky. The entire alcove offered me a peaceful and mystical sanctuary; and I found myself returning there often.
I have sense moved from the neighborhood; and most definitely miss that very special tree. It wasn’t till after I completed this painting that I realized my tree came to visit me instead.
P.S.: I sometimes go back there to visit and love every moment I sit, mediate and connect with that mystical tree.
Advice From A Tree – Ilan Shamir
Stand tall and proud
Sink your roots into the earth
Be content with your natural beauty
Go out on a limb
Drink plenty of water
Remember your roots
Enjoy the view
