Watching the unexpected emerge is one of the most beautiful aspects of painting.

Ethan Newman was born in Northwest Connecticut in 1990, and is known for his bold and colorful expressive paintings and collages. He received his BFA from Hartford Art School in 2018 with a double major in painting and art history and was the recipient of multiple scholarships for his work. An adept musician from an early age, he often works quickly and spontaneously in an improvisational manner, applying paint in a bold and expressive way. Newman has had solo shows at Five Points Gallery, Fred Giampietro Gallery, and Serendipity Gallery, and has participated in numerous group exhibitions at Silvermine Gallery, Joseloff Gallery, and Washington Art Association Gallery among others. In addition, Newman has won multiple awards for his work, including first place at the Five Points Juried Biennial in 2017, as well as the Excellence in Painting Award from Hartford Art School in 2018. His paintings reside in numerous private collections internationally.
