An ancient story of rivalry and strategy, reinterpreted by the Carcino Design atelier in a design that does not go unnoticed. The redesigned elements come to life thanks to the beauty of a selection of colored precious marbles combined together. The design of each piece comes from a deep reflection on the role of each element within a game. A few non-trivial symbols serve to identify with immediate clarity a horse in action, a massive tower, an imposing and crowned king and queen, flanked by their tall herald and defended by a row of pawns equipped with pointed spears.
The result is a unique and exclusive collector’s piece, sophisticated and timeless.

Contemporary chess set made entirely in Italy including chessboard with engraved coordinates and pawns. The workmanship of the pawns is carried out by meticulously finishing each piece by hand to perfectly obtain the smallest angular and curved details and smooth every surface, even undercuts. The mastery of our artisans and the beauty of marble are brought to their full potential by an elegant and iconic design.

Dynamic and slender lines make a chessboard unique and original which, emblematically, takes the name of Metis, recalling a relationship strategy with others and with nature based on the “cunning of intelligence”. As Marilia Amorim writes, “In its technical aspect, the intelligence of the metis is used to create or transform materials, tools and objects. It is the knowledge developed by the artist, the craftsman, the technician and the handyman. The other thing we have to fight with is the very matter of creation.”

Part of a limited edition, each chessboard is unique, numbered and made to order with the possibility of customizing the set.

CARCINO Design is a design studio that collaborates with an all-Italian supply chain for the production of unique and high-quality objects, the result of a handcrafted manufacturing process. Founded in Venice in 2021 and enlivened by the oldest currents of the lagoon city, our studio interprets a universal language of contents and forms, aimed at both East and West. The first objective of the studio is the search for beauty, perhaps the most important skill required of an architect, so complex to find, but certainly concrete in its expression. The second objective is communication, since there cannot be an architecture or a design project without a common conscience, without a collective ability to recognize the language of the creator in the material. The synopsis of the previously touched points can be found in the “plastic” or in the modeled material. So the work in the CARCINO Design is not an end in itself but idea, design, material and communication. We always try, in every object, to find these concepts, whose transposition in current language is easily identifiable in: “Quality”. CARCINO Design has always tried to overcome any obstacle, visible or not, always questioning the approach to work and looking for the latest tools available for modeling.
