20"x20" Mixed media on Canvas. Created by South Florida based Multimedia Artist Gary Gore, this piece was inspired by the artist's third grade teacher and giant teddy bear, Mrs. Thomas. Young, kind, and already world weary in a South Florida of the early 70's, she was stern but open enough to know to defer to the older, wiser teacher who presided over the class next door. "Let them play," she would tell Mrs. Thomas, who would try to get us in from recess every day on time...and Mrs. Thomas take a deep breath and close her eyes, and say "go on, go on..." as we continued to run around, under the carefree Florida sun.
