Magical Palette Knife * Acrylic Abstract * 24' x 24" Gallery Wrap Canvas
With a few strokes of my palette knife, I can create magic. Indeed, painting with my palette knives is such fun and freeing. Colors and shapes easily blend and mingle together seamlessly.
Some only use a palette knife for mixing paint. But not me. Oh, no, it is a tool I used to make my creations come to life. For through this simple tool, pretty stunning effects can be achieved in my abstracts. Because the palette knife allows you to paint layer on layer without having the paint blend together, I can achieve some beautiful broken color effects which are not possible with a brush.
Additionally, I especially like not having to premix any paint. For, I add many different colors directly to the knives; then apply straight to the canvas. With the knives, I can apply clean patches of color to my blank canvas. The blade allows me to swipe a layer of color onto the canvas in a smooth motion. Furthermore, I don’t need to dilute my paint with medium as I often do with a brush. As a result, the color is more vibrant.
And if I apply too much paint, I just use my palette knife to scrape it off while blending additional color to the canvas. Moreover, I like using different palette knife shapes and sizes during the creations of my work. I can even create various textures through thinly or thickly loaded strokes.
Oh, what fun! An endless amount of creation awaits you when you use the palette knife. For instance, broken lines, edges, textures, patches of color, variations in color, and many more affects come to life like magic with the handy palette knife. Indeed, this abstract that I call “Magical Palette Knife” with its many shades of blue and small touches of white, red and purple tones seems to have a vibrant life of its own. Can you identify some of the various ways I created the piece through the use of palette knives?
