Ephemeral Public Artwork
Cooke-Sasseville 2014 - 430 x 608 x 411 cm
Concrete, steel, wood, epoxy resin - Budget: CAD $ 50,000
This sculptural installation has been presented on a continuous basis in several Canadian cities since its inception. This tampered-scale can, a direct reference to Andy Warhol's masterwork, becomes the representation of the hermeticism often blamed on the contemporary art world. Like Stanley Kubrick's monolith, it also suggests being a source of infinite knowledge. By these references to the history of art and the history of cinema, this enigmatic object paradoxically becomes both an illustration of closure and sharing.
