A geologist couple saw another piece I had made like this and wanted another like it. The combination of natural elements–wood, minerals and flowing water appealed to their collective backgrounds. From overhead it kind of resembles an arial view of the earth. It was made from two pieces of reclaimed live edge walnut. The natural voids were filled with epoxy resin and turquoise powder. Finished size was 86"L x 16"W 30"H.

For these epoxy projects – the uniqueness of the wood slab along with the placement and color of the epoxy makes each piece one of a kind. The overall design will match the sample piece shown, but the individual wood selection and epoxy inlay details must be determined. I will send you wood slab choices along with epoxy placement and color options. You can determine the level of involvement in this process. To help you with these customizations, I always provide a rendering that shows all the project details along with an illustration of what the final product will look like. The reclaimed wood I use comes with its own individual story. You can see it in the grain of the wood, the natural aging of old growth timber and all the markings of where and what it used to be. By transforming these reclaimed pieces into something new, we can preserve a bit of the past well into the future. Beyond the aesthetic, I prioritize the use of these reclaimed materials as one way to balance my personal impact on the planet.
