This piece is created to be a conversation piece where friends gather to take in the details, the subject, and the humor. Nothing will lighten up a well-behaved home like I’ll Have My Cake and Eat It Too!

Original acrylic painting on gallery wrapped canvas.

40 x 50 x 1.5

I'll Have My Cake and Eat It Too is part of my Picasso's Cronies collection.

Sides have paint smudges, spillover, and artist notes.

I create statement pieces for a memorable home. My paintings are conversational, bold and colorful. I like to tell a story either through the expression on a face, the layering of paints, or a sense of movement within the design. I use drips, splatters, layers, objects within objects. I play with value to achieve areas of high contrast, often moving from dark to light. All this helps create a storied piece of art, one that cannot be ignored.

My figurative abstract paintings are lively statement pieces that delight the viewer with quirky expressions, unexpected details, and a risky color palette. I play with humor in a rearrangement of anatomy, like eyes and lips that seem to have slid off a face and landed elsewhere in a painting, or limbs appearing as though operating backwards. Lips have tripled, one eye hides, lashes protrude from pupils - anything to defy convention. Like the spirited energy of a child, my paintings cannot be ignored.

A self-taught artist who grew up on Lake Saint Clair in Grosse Pointe, Michigan with a refined southern mother who adored interior design and art, Aleea felt an innate desire to express herself with a paint brush. Despite being told that women should be demure and quiet, Aleea now fully embraces her audacious voice. Her art studio is located in charming Northville, Michigan, where she creates works that reside in numerous private and public collections throughout the country. Fueled by a desire to spark meaningful conversation and to be fully seen, Aleea's statement pieces stand as vibrant testaments to her joy of individuality, as represented in her playful figurative abstracts. Featured in many publications, Aleea emerges as a luminous force in the realm of fine, contemporary art.

I am drawn to the untamed honesty of a child. It reminds me of the creative mavericks I look up to such as Picasso, Matisse, Nin - to name a few, those who unapologetically defied convention. My figurative abstract paintings are bold, playful and conversational, inviting viewers into a world of storytelling. Through humorous expressions and anatomically incorrect features, I weave narratives that captivate the imagination. Using exaggerated shapes, saturated color and allowing drips and splatters to show, a youthful innocence of spontaneity is captured in my figures. These elements combine to produce a sense of whimsy that resonates deeply with my childlike spirit who yearns to play, leaving an indelible impression on those who encounter it.I am drawn to the untamed honesty of a child.
