Behind the slightly opened door of “Leave the Light On” we find a woman reading by candlelight in quiet solitude. Within our walls there are untold stories that we search for, a deep sense of understanding. With the gentle curve of the staircase, I incorporate the feminine with the masculinity of the physicality of the structure. The colour palette of the red and the dark shadows also suggest the feminine.
I hope the quiet solitude of the figure inspires and connects to the viewer and the little bird adds delight and whimsy. Creative lighting of the artwork transforms a new dimension and the relationship between the viewer and the space around.
