This piece of wood wall art is meant to convey the liquid motion of a lava lamp.
The contoured horizontal rows are done in 'natural' stain, and the sandpaper-molded globs are in a bright red 'cabernet' color. The glob pieces are inlaid in the horizontal rows.
There is a lot going on with this piece, straight cuts, curvy colored globs, and wood grain running through all of it. I'm so intrigued by wood as the medium for representing other objects, it's got it's own warmth and liveliness that you can build upon into a completely different thing, in this case a lava lamp, yet the living aspect of the material is never lost. It's really a great thing to have hanging on your walls.
All pieces of art found in this shop can be customized for size, coloration, overall shape. If you have a custom project in mind I'd love to talk with you about it.
EASY TO HANG: each piece comes with a heavy duty hanging wire included, simply put it on a nail in a stud and enjoy! If a different hanging system is required just ask, we can do whatever you need.
