About this rug: Wow wow wow, when will you find this specific and very small village weaving this size rug? Not often, AT ALL. This looks like an iconic Northwest village rug, and it is, but not from the weavers that you may think. This is woven by nomads that are known for smaller rugs and narrow runners - so to get an unusual room-size piece from them is marvelous, to say the least. These pieces are rugged, bold, splendid in their beauty and tough in their DNA. The colors are crisp, the design is intentional, and the lovely patina is representative of its age. Deep navy, rich red with deep madder-root, mellow antique beige, with pops of camel and mocha, soft teals and lake-blues, and of course the most notorious colors from Northwest village rugs during the late 1800's / early 1900's - that hard to ignore salmon/rosey/blush. Find the artistic branch and vine motifs sprawling throughout the piece around and inside the mother medallion. The beautifully layered geometric spandrels present the deep indigo blue field medallion that cements this rug and acts as a great canvas to highlight the rich bold center medallion that contains nature-inspired elements to glue your eyes to the rug! This is a true character piece, one that can't be ignored by it's beauty, and it's energy. The patina and wear on this piece is true to it's age, this has been secured in some areas with some dealer touchups with dyes etc. You can see the photos and if you need more, just let us know!
This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available. Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.
We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.
