About: Absolutely an incredible antique nomadic tribal rug from the Southern-Central mountains of the epicenter of where rug weaving all began. This color palette is truly a timeless earthy meet rustic - with charcoal and madder root reds ground this piece to allow the highlights of clay, browns, amber, madder root, with highlights of antique beige, toned down honey or wheat, to add its infinite coloe palette. Iconic and UNUSUAL 5-medallion design as this village is so known for, creating a nice balance and in a way spreading the beauty of the rug throughout the entire piece unlike the single medallion designs that draw your eye in, this piece allows your eye to wander throughout the whole piece. This rug is filled with great nomadic and spontaneous tribal motifs like animal and human figures, as well as geometric stars, pinwheels, and more - speaking to its nomadic nature. The rug is made of a wool pile with wool foundation giving it a nice flexible feel. This piece has some very minimal ancient repairs like securing a few areas etc. Nothing too major, and given this design and how full of motifs it is, it's unlikely that anyone will even notice them. I've pointed some out in the photos, but all in all, this piece is SO unusual given its size in combination with its design, weave, colors, and age. If you can use this size, it's safe to say you won't find a better and more charming piece in this size! Take advantage of this!
This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available. Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.
We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.
