This work, like many of my others, uses large, quick brush strokes and layers of recycled textiles. My mother and grandmother were both fiber artists who instilled in me a love of the same. The fabric acts as a placeholder for my family as they are a major source of gratitude and joy in my life. I hope that the quick brush strokes juxtaposed with the slow, intentional embroidery remind you to slow your pace and find joy in some of the more routine aspects of life.

Two panels for a total size of 48x60” Acrylic and embroidered textile on canvas.

I make art that celebrates finding joy in the ordinary.

Originally from Kansas City, I grew up in a loud and passionate family that taught me self-expression as a basic instinct and necessity to get a word in at the dinner table. Fiery, honest and empathetic since the womb, I’ve never known another way of being and have always used art as a vehicle for expression. Responding to a strong call to help people with my love of science, I received my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Tulsa and have used every experience since as field research for my creative practice.

I love estate sales, dessert, and anything tiny. I work from my home studio in Oklahoma where my husband and I bask in the orbit of our cheeky daughter, Layla.
